Organ Mountain Quilt Shop

Deciding on a location in July of 2006 was extremely difficult.  There were many spaces to choose from, but most were way out of line with the low overhead we wanted to provide to the average quilter.  After weeks of looking, this location at Solano and Spruce was found.

The plain look would obviously have to go.  A shopping experience needs to be warm and comforting, so let's put on a fresh coat of paint and hang quilts throughout the store.

In preparation for the Great Wall of Fabric, we would need to clear the way for John to build the shelves that were needed.

Just to size out the classroom, we used the fabric holders to segment the area off to be sure there was plenty of room for the classroom without too much room removed from the main store.

John  worked his wonders and these shelves went up, literally, overnight.  Thankyou John!  Just wish we could have a gotten a picture of him in action.

As fabric is received we can start stowing it on the Great Wall of Fabric.

It's getting there.  And you can see the rounders now and the fantastic tops Liz found that made them stand out as a piece of art.

Vicki's family.  Not all provided the labor, but were there for  the encouragement and completion.

And now we have the Organ Mountain Quilt Shop family that ran the shop for the first month.  From left to right we have Chantel, Liz, Marlene, Matt, Vicki, and David.

There is a reading area so come on down if you just want to come in, kick your feet up, and find a good quilting book.

The classroom has a long arm machine, HQ Sixteen, that will be used for classes.  Checkout the classes and events page for the next one to be offered on long arm quilting.

But, you don't have a professional quilting store without the best fabric.  Click on the image to see the quality of this fabric up close.
